We’re a bunch of college buddies, whose friendship has spanned for 13 years and counting. We regularly get together to participate in events like the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon, Kala Ghoda fest and so on. We submitted our entry for the 2012 edition of Soapbox but weren’t selected, which only strengthened our determination to win a place this time around. We did a lot of brain storming to pick the right team name, with our efforts culminating with the name “Desi Lionz”. Not only does it fit in with our PM’s ideology and initiative of Make in India, but also pays tribute to our country’s industrial strength, which is conveyed by the lion. Obviously, nothing from India is complete without its fair bit of tadka, hence the quirky name.
